Janet Law, a certified Reading Therapy Specialist cum Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) coach and life coach in private practice, was previously a research associate with the Early Childhood and Special Needs Education (ECSE) academic group in the National Institute of Education (NIE) from 2013-2014. She has been a volunteer with kidsREAD since 2005 and has been contracted as a ProFLAiR since 2015 under the Focused Language Assistance in Reading (FLAiR) project, an initiative by the MOE. This programme provides reading intervention for K1 and K2 preschoolers in childcare centers and/or kindergartens. The aim is to lay a strong oral-aural foundation in the English language for these children so that they will be ready to develop early reading skills. As a ProFLAiR, Janet helps the children in speaking, reading and other uses of English daily through dedicated time on a one-to-one basis or in small groups not more than 5.
