What is Intermittent Fasting and Why do you even need to do it?
Intermittent fasting is not a diet, it is a pattern of eating. It is a way of timing your meals so that you can let your body make the best out of them. Intermittent fasting does not change what you eat, it just changes when you eat.
Hi Terence here,. I have been doing Intermittent Fasting for one and a half year now.
A lot of people have been asking me why I want to do this since I am not overweight or seriously unhealthy. I never really open up to share the real reason...
About 6 years ago, my mother's dementia became very serious and was affecting our lives as family members.
Occasionally I'll get phone calls from strangers telling me that my mother was lost when she was out on her own. I would dropped everything from work and go fetch her home. Once a police officer on patrol called me to ask how am I related to her as she can only remember the number but not who the number belongs to.
It was a very agonising period of my life...I was exhausted. I told myself I do not want this to happen to me o not let my love ones suffer because of me having dementia.
I began to research....and found that intermittent fasting can avoid dementia besides a lot of other benefits.
Course Curriculum
Hi friends, Terence here. We all want to be happy. At least for most part of our lives.
Like most of the people I know, we are all trying to learn, earn and save as much as we can and make our money grow. That's the financial part.
As for our health, I think all of us would want a healthy and disease free life so that we can enjoy our wealth.
I've been trying to live my life to the fullest by learning as much as I can to make more money and to have a healthy lifestyle by exercising regularly. However things don't always turn out the way we've planned.
What happened to mother makes me to reprioritize my life forever..
You see, even if we have money and a healthy body ...but not a healthy mind, it is still not complete. Imagine that we can't even take care of ourselves because we have Dementia or Alzheimer's Disease?
That's what happened to my mother(she had dementia) and as family members we all have to go through the pain and constant anxiety trying not to let her suffer. As a result, one of our family member was suffering from depression while caring for my mother.
So the quest to have good mental health takes priority or should I say ranked more important than anything else in life.
I cherish the people around me, Be it family, friends or people we come across in our lifetime more importantly than just money. Don't get me wrong, money is important but relentless pursuit of money becomes meaningless when we are incapable of knowing what's going on around us.
Intermittent Fasting might not be foolproof but it could mean the difference between having a significant mental health issue and avoiding one. We choose.
