The Ultimate Art-Making P.I.C.T.U.R.E. Process
Session 1
1. PREPERATION- What is the theme/idea? Who is it for and why? Set up and get familiarized with materials. Grind your ink- mix your colors and paint a background either all over or only partial and let it dry.
Session 2
2. INCUBATION- Collect imagery like photos, sketches, words, letters, magazine tear outs.
Session 3
3. COMPOSITION- Layout of images, text and colors. Where/what is the focus of attention? Lay out images on canvas. Secret weapon- gel media for attaching items and for layering.
Session 4
4. TAKEOFF- Get started. Start making decisions and building your artwork.
Session 5
5. UNITY- Stand back and see how it’s developing. Reengage images. Ask: is it working and saying what I want it to?
Session 6
6. REFINE- Finishing up. Add final touches and paint the sides of the canvas in a complimentary color. Documentation or the work & choosing a place to hang the artwork.
Session 7
7. EVALUATION- Does the artwork speak to you? Does it say what you wanted it to say?
