In December 2017 right after Christmas, my family of 3 including my husband, myself and our 8 years old son decided to move to Melbourne, Australia from Malaysia.
In the first 6 months, while getting use to the lifestyle here in Melbourne, I realised that my family could not get use to eating out because of the western taste in the food as well as the cost of living is high if we eat out everyday. And I also noticed the processing of the ingredients can be unhealthy due to the additives added to prolong the usability of the ingredient. That is when I decided to start cooking my own meals for my family.
Over here in Australia, buying ingredients in bulk is much more cost savings but I noticed that my small-sized family of 3 could not finish the ingredients in time and they usually go to waste. Common ingredients such as basil leaves and spring onions that we use in Asian cuisine are really expensive if purchase just for one or two meals. Plus getting the Asian species that are more fragrant is hard unless there is a South East Asia shop in your area that sells these vegetables.
Iām also very concern about feeding healthy food to my family as I read about published articles regarding the community concerned about the usage of chemical in farming here.
That is when I decided to start my own mini garden.
In my past 4 years, I have successfully developed a P.L.A.N.T system to harvest my own ingredients for my family's daily meals and even enough to share with my friends.
